¡Bienvenidos! Whether you are a friend, family member, or stranger, I'm happy to have you here. For those of you who may not know, I am about to embark on my biggest adventure yet - I will be spending my Spring 2024 semester abroad in Madrid, Spain! As a sophomore nursing student, I will not only be taking my nursing classes in Madrid, but also my first round of clinicals! Studying abroad has been a dream of mine since middle school and it's crazy to think that it will become a reality in a few short days. I've decided to write about my future travels and experiences in Madrid and the rest of Europe (and possibly Africa...) as a way to hold myself accountable in keeping my parents up to date on what I'm doing;) But, also, as a way for me to look back on this monumental moment in my life for years to come. I'm so excited to share what my future travels, classes, and life looks like for the next few months. With 18 credits, and 2 (maybe 3) full suitcases, I can't wait to see what's in store. So, with that being said, buckle your seatbelts everyone, because this adventure is about to take off on January 7th! ¡Hasta luego!

ARRIVAL!

It’s crazy to think that the day has finally come! It feels like I just submitted my application to go abroad and now I'm actually here. I'm so excited for what's to come! I hope you continue to follow along:)  A picture of everything I brought to Madrid!   We had some time to kill before heading to the Milwaukee airport so Connelly, Ryan, Mom, and I played cards before we were on the road. As we got closer and closer to the airport, I was getting more nervous about my semester. All of the excitement of studying abroad made me forget that the hardest part is being away from home and family. But, once we got to the airport, I got one of my suitcases checked. Because I'm doing my clinical's in Madrid, I had to bring all of my nursing stuff with me: my shoes, scrubs, stethoscope, and my enormous textbooks. SPAIN: SEGOVIA

Today, I went on a day trip to Segovia, Spain! My friend Karly and I took the 10:15am train to Segovia, with a few hiccups along the way, but nothing that couldn't stop us. The train ride was a little under 30 minute and the scenery outside on the way there was absolutely beautiful. After we arrived at the train station, we took a taxi to the city center. Located there, is the Aqueduct. I didn't do any tours while in Segovia so I don't know the history of it, but, Google says it was built in the 1st century, stands 28.5 meters tall, and stretches for 14 kilometers. The architecture in Segovia is nothing like Madrid. To me, it resembles "old town" European cities. Before grabbing a "café con leche", we went to a jewelry shop with the most adorable rings and necklaces.
