¡Bienvenidos! Whether you are a friend, family member, or stranger, I'm happy to have you here. For those of you who may not know, I am about to embark on my biggest adventure yet - I will be spending my Spring 2024 semester abroad in Madrid, Spain! As a sophomore nursing student, I will not only be taking my nursing classes in Madrid, but also my first round of clinicals! Studying abroad has been a dream of mine since middle school and it's crazy to think that it will become a reality in a few short days. I've decided to write about my future travels and experiences in Madrid and the rest of Europe (and possibly Africa...) as a way to hold myself accountable in keeping my parents up to date on what I'm doing;) But, also, as a way for me to look back on this monumental moment in my life for years to come. I'm so excited to share what my future travels, classes, and life looks like for the next few months. With 18 credits, and 2 (maybe 3) full suitcases, I can't wait to see what's in store. So, with that being said, buckle your seatbelts everyone, because this adventure is about to take off on January 7th! ¡Hasta luego!

FINLAND: TAMPERE

This is it. My last trip abroad. How has the day already come? I landed in Helsinki late in the morning, and Emilia met me at the airport. We got a quick lunch and stopped to get candy for the train ride. While we were on the train headed to Tampere, Emilia and I heard a loud crash coming from our train carriage. The train immediately stopped, and we weren't exactly sure what all happened. It turns out there was a person on the train tracks. I'm not going to go into details, but make your own assumptions about the most probable thing that could happen to a person if they got hit by a train. That was not a great start to being in the "happiest country in the world". On a more positive note, we eventually made it to Tampere, and Emilia's mom drove us back to their house. HUNGARY: BUDAPEST

Hello Budapest! Originally, Budapest was not on the top of my list of places to visit, but the closer I got to going, the more excited I got. Like I said in an earlier blog post, Katie and Sarah Jane came to Budapest a day earlier than me. So, I flew by myself, and once I landed, I took an Uber to my hostel. I immediately unpacked and walked the 4 minutes to Sarah Jane and Katie's Airbnb. We had cheesy pasta and garlic bread for dinner, which Sarah Jane cooked. We ended the night by watching one of my favorite movies, A Star is Born, on their TV. After that, I walked back to the hostel and went to bed. I stayed at the Wombat, which is the same hostel company I stayed at in Munich! I really enjoyed this hostel; it was safe and had great amenities! The next morning, I woke up and got ready to walk over to the Airbnb for breakfast. During the process of getting ready, I somehow dropped my phone in the toilet. Not a great start to the day.
